New to Scouting?  Here's what you'll need.

Checklist

  1. Complete and turn in an youth application and health form

  2. Pay dues for current “school” year

  3. Purchase Scout uniform items (see “Uniform Info”)

Application

Below is a link to an online, fillable version of the scout application to complete on your computer. Then print, sign, and provide to a Pack 985 committee member.

Health Form

The BSA Annual Health Form is required for all scouting activities.  We collect these when at the beginning of each year.  Below is a link to an online, fillable version to complete on your computer. Then print, sign, and provide to a Pack 985 committee member.  The form is good for only one year, so you will have to complete multiple times during your child’s years with the Pack.

Dues

Annual Pack activity fee is $110.  These funds cover the child's and annual membership to the BSA, the child's rank-appropriate neckerchief, slide, and handbook. This can be paid online here for a small processing fee, or by delivering a check to a Pack 985 committee member.

Separate from the activity fee, BSA requires a yearly membership fee, $80 for 2024-25 school year. This gets paid directly to BSA via a link sent in an email to the registered account, or at time of sign-up for new Scouts.

You can help!

Many of us want to be more involved in our child's activities. Pack 985 runs on parent volunteers. Without your support, there would be no Cub Scout program. Please consider a leadership or committee position in our pack. If interested, please complete the online, fillable adult application below on your computer. Then print, sign, and provide to a Pack 985 committee member.

Uniform Info

Each child will have two uniforms, Class A and Class B. The Class A is the regulation Cub Scout Uniform which you will purchase, and is intended for formal Pack Events and Den meetings.  The Class B is a Pack T-shirt, we will provide, and is for when we get muddy, sweaty, and all the signs of having fun.

With Class A uniforms, Pack 985 is a “belt up” pack, so we do not require the scouts to wear regulation pants or socks.  Please also note that the BSA provides financial assistance, if required, to ensure your son has the correct uniform. We will provide the rank appropriate hat, neckerchief and slide for your cub.

You will need to purchase:

  1. Shirt

  2. Web Belt & Buckle

  3. Patches: Atlanta Area Council, World Scouting Crest, red “9” “8” “5” pack numbers, and Den number

Note: the Atlanta BSA Scout Shop provides shirts for sale with all patches already on except for pack and den patches.

These supplies can be purchased online at ScoutStuff.org or at the Atlanta BSA Scout Store (see map)
